The “Smile of a Child” program was founded by Rabbi Mordechai Chamami of Rechovot, Israel, whose goal is to help widows and orphans in Israel. HACHESED was appointed by Rabbi Chamami as its USA representative. HACHESED helps over 120 needy families and has given $250.00 to each family in honor of the New Year, 5768. These families are truly in need of food, clothing and other basic necessities.

We will provide our sponsors with a list of families, their addresses and the number of family members who HACHESED has helped. We will delete their names for privacy reasons. We urge every family who has living parents to sponsor a minimum of $250.00 monthly, to give these needy families a push to cover basic needs. We currently have a list of 140 families who are missing one parent and their children are lacking funds for essential matters.

If anyone wants to personally visit a family, we will accommodate them accordingly. Rabbi Mendy Chamami represents HACHESED in Israel.

You should be part of the great mitzvah of sponsoring a bar or bat mitzvah for an orphan. The cost is $1800.00, this includes a pair of tefilin, a dress or suit, music and food. We will organize an aliya at the kotel.
