Many people are consumed with their appearance. They have a low self esteem. A person who is confident with their life conduct, doesn't need to be nervous about how they look. Obviously we need to look presentable; we should not be obsessed with our external outfit, we must focus more on our inner character traits
The Torah says that a tattoo is prohibited. Jewish people have to remember that our bodies don't belong to us, the body of a Jew is sacred. We are only borrowing it from Hashem. We are commanded to safeguard our physical health, to ensure a healthy and strong connection with Hashem. the Mizricher Magid said: a small hole in the body is a big hole in the soul. When a person is weak they cannot perform their religious obligations properly.
Unfortunately our society is so bored, they are looking for attention. The men need the woman to think that they are kool. Woman need the men to think they are cute. The Torah says, this method is disgusting. It will not bring positive results. Why is our youth so busy with tattoos? because their minds are empty from positive thoughts about Hashem, Torah, and helping needy people.
We need to engrave our bodies with an everlasting bond with G-d. When we respect our teachers and parents according to torah values, we will eliminate lots of serious problems that are the results of these tattoos. The test to know if something is appropriate, is to see the result .People with tattoos are not prime examples of a happy, torah observant community member.
If someone has an urge for a tattoo, remember that Moses didn't need a tattoo. If you want to feel good about yourself, discover the hidden treasures of your G-dly soul, that are in your reach. Connect with your local rabbi, for men, or rebetzin, for women, to ask for advice, how to find more inner strength to fight your ugly urges.
If you need to enhance your consciences about your external appearance, remember that as nice as you need to look for other people, you need to be much more concerned how you look in G-d's eyes. Almighty G-d is watching our conduct very closely. Don't worry about people's opinion regarding your clothing,as long as you feel good about yourself, spiritually, and your good deeds towards others.
Our holy leader Moshe, did not need a tattoo or other silly decorations to enhance his appearance. Moshe Rabainu was the most humble person on earth. He was concerned with his performance of mitzvoth, if he sufficiently served G-d.
Our rabbis tell us, that every Jew possesses a spark of Moshe in our souls. This empowers us to be humble and to be sensitive to help others in need. When you do good deeds for others, you will be complimented and you will feel accomplished, more than some foolish symbol.
