HACHESED News Update – 11/23 - 2007
Rabbi Feivish Dalfin founder of HACHESED the organization of love and kindness has just returned from a wind whirl 3-day Israel trip. The purpose of his visit was to celebrate and arrange Bar Mitzvahs for 10 orphans and their families. Here is a brief description of what happened:• On Thursday morning, November 15, 2007 at 10:30 the boys and their families gathered at the Kotel. Several Torah readings were organized to make it possible for each bar mitzvah boy to be called to the Torah for an Aliya.
• After the celebration at the Kotel they continued walking to the Cardo in the Jewish Quarter-Rova. The orphans and widows, whose self esteem and confidence was shattered by the loss of their beloved one, were happy. Their Jewish pride was reinstated with a feeling of jubilation and self-worth. Walking the streets, which date back some 2000 years, caused these children tremendous joy.
• The next part of the celebration was a full catered meal at a beautiful restaurant in the Rova. The waiters wore a uniform emulating the dress code of ancient Israel.
• They danced together and enjoyed a fantastic famous singer, Mendy Geroffee.
• There were 90 family members who came to participate.
• Every bar mitzvah boy received payment for their Tefilin, plus a cash gift for his needy family.
• The total gift per child was one thousand dollars.
• Each boy was given a beautiful kidush cup and a leather bound Chumash, Tehillim and Tanya.
The joy in the room was imbued with a powerful message, we care about you!
We feel your sadness, and we are here to help you.
